One Website

Since many years, I'm maintaining different websites for various hobbies. This site is and was always dedicated to my personal life, technical topics, and philosophy—in short, quite general. Additionally, there is my music composition website, which covers everything related to composition, and for the last about three years, I have also maintained a dedicated photography page. This arrangement has always seemed logical. By creating a more appropriate and focused page for each area, I prevent potential visitors from feeling overwhelmed by too much information. Furthermore, I must admit that it also felt much more "professional" and sophisticated.
But I am not three people; I am one strange person with many different interests. I don't need to publish my work on different pages, and I don't need to try to hide myself.
Sure, there are people who are convinced that a dedicated photography page is (even for me) more professional, and that putting everything together would make me look more like an "amateur." And I don't argue against that. Perhaps they're right. Perhaps not. In the end, for my personal online presence, I don't care. I do not intend to go professional in any of these areas (music composition or photography, that is), and if I would, I would need to re-evaluate how I present my work anyway.
Combining all my output into a single portal would not only reduce the time required to create and run these pages but would also allow me to present myself completely, as I am, without having to think much about where a certain post fits best.
I've had this idea for several months now, and as you may have noticed, I can't think of many arguments for me for keeping the content separated. So, I'm quite close to making a final decision. However, it would take me the rest of the year (perhaps even longer) to finish this project.
A unified web presence would include all content and, of course, would need more pages. Additionally, some changes would be necessary to support the additional multimedia content, along with perhaps more smaller and bigger tweaks. Therefore, developing a new theme would most likely be necessary, which wouldn't hurt too much either. The theme for my music composition page is now ten years old (with a small facelift), and this theme is also slowly showing its age (at least to me).
A new theme would, of course, support all possible content types while also offering visitors ways to focus on specific types of content. Good categorisation and implementation around that should ensure this.
Additionally, my Kirby licenses are running out early next year, and migrating to one page would also save some money if I decide to stick with Kirby.
If you have any thoughts about this, please write me an email! The next iteration will likely feature some sort of commenting system again.
I would like to hear what you think about this post. Feel free to write me a mail!
